Virtual Dialogues 2023

MCLS’s Engagement, Consulting, and Training team hosted more sessions of our popular Virtual Dialogues via Zoom every other month in 2023, beginning in January.

These Dialogues were FREE and were designed for librarians and library workers at all levels and in all library types to connect, engage, learn from, and support each other across our two-state membership region. Participants did not need to be from an MCLS member library to participate.

Each session had a specific topic (suggested by our members through our online survey!) and guided questions based on principles and practices of Appreciative Inquiry to facilitate a supportive, growth-minded space. Most of the time was spent in conversation with each other, so participants were encouraged to come with cameras and audio connected and ready to see and hear others as well as be seen and heard!

All sessions were held from 10:30am-noon Eastern (9:30-11am Central), except for the July Dialogue which was held in the evening in the hopes of allowing more of our school library staff colleagues and those who can't get away during the day a chance to participate.

Registration was FREE but limited and first-come, first-served.

Each session focused on one aspect of Cultivating a Growth Mindset:
January 17, 2023: Motivation!
March 15, 2023: Cultivating Curiosity & Practicing Flexible, Infinite Thinking
May 11, 2023: Big Picture Thinking
July 11, 2023: Flipping Problems into Opportunities
September 14, 2023: Defining & Celebrating Success
November 8, 2023: Choosing Your Mindset

Because these sessions were truly DIALOGUES and most of the learning was done from peers in breakout rooms, they were NOT recorded and shared for later viewing.
