MCLS announces staff promotions

MCLS is pleased to announce that Nancy Kirkpatrick has been promoted to MCLS Associate Director and Michelle Bradley has been promoted to MCLS Member Engagement Manager.

Nancy joined MCLS in February 2015 and has been the MCLS Member Services Manager since July 1. She will continue in both capacities, working closely with the executive director on direction, strategy, and development of new services at MCLS. “Nancy has demonstrated an outstanding ability to work with our members, and she has a great deal of energy and enthusiasm for her work,” commented Randy Dykhuis, Executive Director. “Her experience as an academic library director makes her well suited to this job.”

“MCLS has brought a lot of value to libraries in Indiana and Michigan, and I look forward to working with our members to increase that value in the future.”

Prior to MCLS, Nancy was the library director at Marian University in Indianapolis for four years. She also worked as a librarian at Lincoln College of Technology in Marietta, Georgia. Nancy has her M.S. from the University of Illinois. Before becoming a librarian, she was a contract attorney in Minneapolis and earned her law degree from the University of Richmond.

Michelle has worked as the MCLS Community Engagement Librarian in Indiana since October 2014. Through her efforts, MCLS has gained a higher visibility and greater relevance to libraries across Indiana. As MCLS Member Engagement Manager, she will oversee MCLS’s engagement efforts across both states. “Michelle was a creative and community focused library director so it was no surprise that she brought the same passion to her job at MCLS,” said Randy Dykhuis. “Michelle’s long experience in Indiana has served MCLS well since she joined us. I expect that her drive for excellence will lead her to similar performance as MCLS Member Engagement Manager.”

“I’m very excited about joining the leadership team at MCLS,” Michelle said. “The community engagement work that MCLS has done over the last few years has set a solid foundation that we can build on. I’m looking forward to doing even more in Indiana, and I’m eager to meet more librarians around Michigan.”

Michelle has deep experience as a public librarian. She came to MCLS from Frankfort Community Library in Frankfort, Indiana, where she worked for more than eleven years. Starting as the head of technical services and assistant director, she became the director in 2008. Michelle also worked at Tippecanoe County (IN) Public Library, Jasper County (IN) Public Library, and Palm Beach (FL) County Library System. She earned her MLS from Indiana University.
