TALK: Text and Learn webinar for Indiana public libraries

TALK: Text and Learn for Kindergarten sends fun activities parents/caregivers can do with their babies and preschoolers to make any time learning time. Developed by librarians and based on the Every Child Ready to Read program that encourages caregivers to read, write, sing, talk, and play with their little ones everyday, TALK activities are designed to get kids ready for school success.
In partnership with the Indiana State Library and staff at Ypsilanti District Library in Michigan, with funding from an IMLS National Leadership grant, Midwest Collaborative for Library Services is expanding the TALK program to Indiana public libraries. Originally created and tested by libraries in Washtenaw County, Michigan with IMLS/LSTA funds distributed through the Library of Michigan, TALK is currently being used by many public libraries in Michigan to reach parents they might not see at library storytimes.
Indiana public library staff are encouraged to attend a free webinar on Wednesday, November 2 at 11am Eastern (10am Central). Presented by Jodi Krahnke, Head of Youth Services, and Angie Martin-Schwarze, TALK Program Assistant at Ypsilanti District Library in Michigan, you will learn details about the service, the toolkits, and how you can use text messaging to help improve school readiness in your community.
Register here to receive the Zoom link via email. If you can’t attend the live webinar, you may request the recording here.

This webinar is only open to Indiana public library staff and is worth 1 hr/1 LEU. Interested Michigan public libraries can sign up and receive more information here.
