Proceeds from sale of former INCOLSA building will benefit Indiana libraries

The MCLS Board of Directors has developed a new program for Indiana member libraries. The proceeds of the sale of the former INCOLSA building, which sold in 2014 for $250,000 will be used to benefit Indiana libraries, through a grant program. $50,000 will be made available each fiscal year for the next 5 years for various competitive grants and scholarships to benefit MCLS member libraries in Indiana. See the MCLS Indiana Grant Initiative for more information.

Grant opportunities will be announced at the beginning of each fiscal year in July, and will be open to all types of libraries.

This fiscal year, we are offering up to 20 scholarships to Indiana library staff to attend the Harwood/ALA Public Innovators Lab, October 14-16 2015 in Detroit, Michigan. More information and applications are available now.

MCLS Executive Director, Randy Dykhuis, has stated that “MCLS acquired ownership of the INCOLSA building, located in Indiana, during the INCOLSA/MLC merger. The MCLS board has made a commitment to return the financial gains from its sale to the member libraries in Indiana, through this 5 year grant program.”

We look forward to the exciting projects and programs that Indiana libraries develop from these grants.
