LANSING, Michigan (April 2, 2013)-The Midwest Collaborative for Library Services invites its academic library members in Michigan and Indiana to apply for participation in a pilot project whose purpose is to evaluate the feasibility of MCLS assisting libraries in marketing of library services to their patrons.

Up to 12 libraries will be chosen to receive a deeply discounted one year subscription to BrowZine, an innovative mobile application for iPads and Android tablets. Those selected must agree to actively assist MCLS and Third Iron on the deployment of a marketing campaign that will be designed to promote awareness of BrowZine among their entire campus community. The marketing kit, which will be provided during summer 2013, will include a BrowZine widget creator for the libraries’ website, email templates to send to faculty, editable posters, as well as social and interactive media.

To help you learn more about BrowZine and the benefits it will bring to your users, MCLS and Third Iron will host a free webinar to demonstrate BrowZine on April 16, at 11 AM. Pre-registration is required. Contact Heather Thomas at to register to attend this informational webinar.

Libraries that are interested in applying to join the pilot project should complete an online application form. Minimum requirements include MCLS membership, subscription to one or more ejournal packages that BrowZine supports , and a subscription to at least one ejournal through MCLS. Applications are due by April 26.

Libraries that are chosen to participate in the pilot project will be notified by May 3.

Check back to our BrowZine project page for updates.

Libraries not interested in participating in the project will still be able to acquire BrowZine through MCLS at MCLS member rates. For more information about contact Diana Mitchell at
