MCLS staff to present at October conferences

Several MCLS staff members will present the following topics at conferences this month. In addition, if you’re attending MLA or ILF, stop by our booth to say, “Hi!” We’ll have our popular prize drop game for you to have a bit of fun plus lots of great information, prizes, and giveaways! 

National Digital Stewardship Alliance Digital Preservation 2025 Conference
October 9-10, Online 

  • Michigan Digital Preservation Network Coordinator Chelsea Denault will present “A Roadmap for Building a Collaborative Regional Preservation Network.”  

Michigan Museums Association Annual Conference
October 13-15 in Lansing 

  • Chelsea Denault, Michigan Digital Preservation Network Coordinator, will present “Drag-And-Drop Digital Preservation for Local History Collections,” an overview of MDPN, including use cases and a live demo.  

Michigan Library Association Annual Conference
October 29-31 at the Lansing Center 

  • Executive Director Scott Garrison will share about MCLS at the New Attendee Welcome. 
  • Library Strategist Jenny Kobiela-Mondor will use the Starship Enterprise as an example of an empowered, effective team with her presentation, “To Boldly Go: Building and Leading Inclusive Teams.”  
  • Library Consultant Jan Davidson will share lessons learned by MCLS in improving retention and reinforcing culture in “Welcome Aboard! Reframing Orientation into Effective Onboarding.”  

Indiana Library Federation Annual Conference
November 9-11 at the Crowne Plaza Downtown Union Station, Indianapolis 

  • Executive Director Scott Garrison and Engagement, Consulting, and Training Manager Pam Seabolt, and Marketing and Communication Coordinator Mary Ruthko will lead “The Future of Collaboration in the Library Profession: A Dialogue.” They’ll share how library consortia like MCLS help leverage collective efforts and invite attendees to discuss the future of collaboration across library types. 
  • Engagement, Consulting, and Training Manager Pam Seabolt and Library Strategist Jenny Kobiela-Mondor will discuss how we can rethink our relationship with technology and the digital world and make it work for us in their presentation, “Creating Healthy Habits for Your Digital Wellbeing.” 
  • Jenny Kobiela-Mondor, Library Strategist, will talk about both serving your community’s unique, varied needs and collaborating with a diverse group of coworkers by “Weaving Belonging into Your Library Practice.”
