Community Conversations coming back to Indiana

Indiana librarians are invited to attend one of five Community Conversations to be held in the southern portion of the state in the month of March.  The purpose of these conversations is to gather information about the needs of the Indiana library community and to explore your hopes, concerns, and aspirations. We will conduct another round of Community Conversations in the northern part of the state in August, and Community Conversations will also be coming to Michigan in April, with dates to be announced.

Call for proposals – “Reading Redefined: Deep Reading, Learning, and the Impact of Digitization”

On behalf of the Conference Program Committee, we would like to invite you to submit a proposal. The event will be held in Lansing, Michigan at the Lansing Community College West Campus on September 30, 2016.

This program is for librarians, educators, and others interested in understanding the ways that reading is changing, and is an opportunity to gather, debate, and learn.

We invite program proposals from February 1, 2016 to March 31, 2016.

MeLCat Advisory Committee

Thank you to all who responded to the call for service on the MeLCat Advisory Committee. The purpose of the committee is to advise the State Librarian on policies for the statewide catalog and resource-sharing system. Specific areas of focus include database standards, MeLCat system evaluation, borrowing and lending policies, and best practices.
 
Members from across the state are appointed for two-year staggered terms and represent a variety of types of libraries and library automation systems. The committee brings together staff with a wide range of backgrounds to promote an integrated approach to policy design and problem solving.

RIDES RFP

On December 4, 2015 MCLS posted a request for proposal (RFP) for statewide library courier sorting and delivery services for RIDES, and is now pleased to announce that ProMed Delivery, Inc. has been awarded the contract for service. We plan to continue to offer Michigan libraries of all sizes and types an efficient and cost-effective solution for transporting shared materials.
