MCLS is offering up to twenty $500 collection development mini-grants to school libraries in Indiana that are MCLS members.
The goal of the collection development mini-grants program is to assist school libraries that have limited materials budgets and demonstrate real need to add new materials to their collection. Materials may be in any format needed.
The grant application deadline is December 30 and awards will be announced January 15.
The Library of Michigan and MCLS are pleased to announce a several month long community engagement training program for Michigan library staff. The training will be led by coaches from the Harwood Institute for Public Innovation
, and is being offered at no charge to selected Michigan libraries, with generous stipends provided through Library of Michigan LSTA funding.
The deadline for application is December 21.
MCLS will host a live Twitter chat series at #MCLSchat with special guests who are veterans in the field of library management. These one-hour Twitter chats will provide opportunities to get expert advice from your veteran peers in the library management field without leaving your desk (or your smart phone). Topics will include hiring, delegating, difficult conversations and project management.
Join us every Thursday in February from 2pm to 3pm Eastern (1pm to 2pm Central).
This year, MCLS teamed up with the state libraries in Indiana and Michigan and took to the road for a series of regional meetings in each state. MCLS Executive Director Randy Dykhuis shares his insights and links to the presentations.

MCLS will be hosting a Community Engagement Roundtable on December 10 from 10:30am to 12pm Eastern (9:30am to 11am Central) at the Knox County Public Library in Vincennes, IN. This free opportunity is for anyone with an interest in community engagement. This will be a great opportunity to talk to one another about your efforts, and to get advice from the veterans at the Knox County Public Library, one of 10 libraries in the country selected by ALA as part of the Libraries Transforming Communities Public Innovators Cohort .

Naxos of America is excited to announce the launch of Naxos Music Library—World and Naxos Works Database.
Naxos Music Library – World centers around Smithsonian Folkways while providing hundreds of additional recordings from labels like Sony, Warner, Arc, and Naxos World. This database comes with all the same features you've come to know and love in Naxos Music Library, like usage stats, personal playlists, institutional playlists, IP authentication, and the list goes on. The NML-World mobile app will be available early 2016.
Naxos Works Database features deep, searchable data on more than 25,000 compositions. This growing database is necessary for schools with any music program, especially music history, musicology, or doctorate programs. The MeLCat servers are moving to a new hosting center. The last request before the temporary suspension was placed by an Albion College patron! Just a reminder that beginning Wednesday, December 2, all MeLCat activity should cease for the transition. All services will be restored by Friday, December 11. Thank you to all MeLCat participants (and patrons) for their patience and understanding during these changes.

MCLS last issued an RFP for statewide delivery services in December 2003. In the interest of due diligence, MCLS will be issuing a new RFP for RIDES service to begin July 2016. The RFP will be posted December 4, 2015 to the MCLS website http://mcls.org/ridesrfp. Questions regarding the RFP may be addressed to ridesrfp@mcls.org.
