Conferences and other events are a good means for building collaboration, engagement, and relationships, seeking innovative ideas, listening, and learning. Fall is a busy conference season for many, including us at MCLS. This month, I’ll touch on some conferences and events where I and other MCLS staff have been/will be this fall, and some of what we’re learning and sharing. As always, my goal here is to seek opportunities to engage with and hear from you. I hope you’ll look for the MCLS staff at an upcoming conference or other event.
We'll have lots of prizes at our booths and would love to talk to you about how MCLS can serve your library! To set up a Group purchasing appointment, please email services@mcls.org in advance.
The final Virtual Dialogue of 2023 will be on Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 10:30 a.m. to noon Eastern (9:30-11 a.m. Central). Join us on Zoom as we continue discussing components of cultivating a growth mindset – this time focusing on choosing your mindset in building a trusting and collaborative environment.
MCLS Virtual Dialogues are guided conversations with fellow library workers from different experience levels and library types from all over Indiana and Michigan.
We look forward to seeing you on Nov. 8!
Register now for the virtual MCLS Annual Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 10 a.m.-noon Eastern (9-11 a.m. Central). All registrants will receive the Zoom attendance link.
We will showcase highlights from the past year, offer important updates, and engage with you about MCLS’s upcoming strategic planning process with our partners at Spartina Consulting.
MCLS is steadily working on TALK's transition from a fully IMLS grant-funded program to an MCLS subscription-based service. To facilitate setting up your account in our system, we need to know if you are planning to offer TALK to your patrons after the grant ends in July 2024.
IMLS grant funds will cover the TALK subscription service for a longer period than anticipated, so we are able to delay subscription service billing to Jan. 1, 2024! Invoices will be available in MCLS’s subscription management system (Consortia Manager) by Dec. 1, 2023. Free text block voucher distribution will remain in place and the subscription fee will be prorated based on the shorter subscription year (1/1/24-6/30/24). Any unused texts will roll over to the next year as long as your library continues with an active TALK subscription.
Please fill out this form no later than Dec. 1 to let us know if your library will continue to offer TALK. If we do not hear from you by Dec. 1, we will assume you plan to no longer offer TALK to your patrons after July 31, 2024.
Visit the Frequently Asked Questions for Libraries page for more information or email your questions to talkhelp@mcls.org. Thank you for using TALK!
ConsortiaManager (CM) now asks libraries to select when they want to be invoiced for subscriptions: either immediately or after the subscription starts. Instructions on the process are in the CM shopping basket, and everyone appears to be managing the new process without any issues.
If you have any questions, please email services@mcls.org.
