Manager of Group Purchasing

The Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS) is seeking an extremely well-organized, highly motivated individual to join our team as the Manager of Group Purchasing. As part of our three-person team, you will manage licenses from dozens of vendor partners and negotiate to get the best terms and conditions for MCLS member libraries. You will assist members with new and renewal subscriptions and inform them about any changes in their licenses. You will oversee the Group Purchasing section of the MCLS website and keep it current with all the latest information about vendors, prices, and special offers.

The right person will be an effective multitasker, highly organized, and detail oriented. Experience with database or e-journal license negotiations is necessary. You should be knowledgeable about the latest trends in collection development and e-resources. You need to be a people person with the skills to get along with people in a variety of positions, from sales reps to front-line librarians to department heads and directors. A sense of humor and an ability to learn on the job are critical to success.
