InfoTrac Student Edition
1. Do a Basic search for plagiarism. Use the narrow by document type to find a letter to the editor. For extra fun, translate it into a language of your choice.
2. Do a Basic search for human rights. Open any Academic article. Execute a new search using the subject headings on the left side.
3. Do a Subject Guide search for uranium. Click on the Related Subjects link, then find an article on Isotope Separation. Open the article and email it to yourself.
4. Look up any topic you know your students or patrons will use from this database.
SIRS Renaissance
1. Browse the subject area of Cultures, then find something on World Heritage Sites. Pick out an article to email to yourself.
2. Do a search for Impressionists, find an article, then use one of the subject headings listed for it to execute a new search.
3. Using Database Features, list one category of awards included in Renaissance.
4. Use the Pathfinders to find an interactive website on Health.
5. Find something that you know your own students/patrons will use!
NoveList
1. What is the theme of this month's front page?
2. Use the main box at the top to search for snowboard. List one title with a four-start ranking.
3. Find Award Winners for Teens. Select one type of award that would interest your young adult users, then list one of the awards included in NoveList.
4. Play around and find something you know your staff or teen users will like in NoveList.
What Do I Read Next?
1. Do an author search for Patricia McCormick. (Careful of the radio button here). List the title of one book she has written.
2. Do a Genre search for Fantasy/Alternative Universe. List the title of one book by Piers Anthony.
3. Do an Awards search. Select an award of interest to you and find the list of winners.
4. Search for anything that looks interesting to you.
Health and Wellness Resource Center
1. Use the Health Assessment tab, then list one risk assessment tool that you think your students would use.
2. Use the Diseases and Conditions tab. Click on C, then find an article on Cholera.
3. Use the Trusted Sites tab. Scroll down to Health literacy and list the title of an audio tutorial on how to evaluate health sources on the Internet.
